Polaris Awarded contract!!

The National Guard Bureau, the federal organization that oversees equipment purchases for the National Guard, has tapped Polaris Industries to purchase $2.4 million worth of Ranger 800 Crew side-by-sides. This recent order follows a $6 million Army contract awarded to the OEM in August.

Polaris serves U.S. Department of Defense as well as other government agencies and U.S. allies through its five-year-old Polaris Defense business unit. Polaris Defense vehicle sales in 2008 increased 42 percent compared to 2007 and the company anticipates a further 50 percent increase in 2009.

Polaris Defense won the recent contract in a bidding process opened by the National Guard Bureau. The vehicle will be used to support Army National Guard missions at home and abroad.

"The National Guard's state-side mission to protect the homeland and respond to disasters fits Polaris vehicles extremely well," says Mark McCormick, managing director of Polaris Defense. "Our all wheel drive, multi-passenger, off-road vehicles provide a cost-effective capability well-suited for the demands of the National Guard. This is a big win for Polaris and our defense business."

In August, Polaris received orders in excess of $6 million from the U.S. Army to provide additional vehicles, parts and accessories of the company's militarized ATV, the MV700, for operations in Afghanistan.
